How do I know what size to order?show

We understand that ordering the correct size can be challenging, so we have provided you with detailed information about sizing on each product page, including examples. You may also refer to our comprehensive measuring guides for additional information. Alternatively, if you are unsure of what size to order, please contact us via the enquiry form, and we will be happy to help you in any way we can.

  • Wrought Iron Style Products: When ordering, it is essential to understand that the displayed "fits opening width" refers to the gap size between walls/posts/ other support structures and not the actual physical width of the product. Misunderstanding this difference can lead to expensive mistakes, especially for made-to-measure sizes. To ensure correct sizing, read the measuring guide or contact us for assistance.

  • Wooden Gates - The measurements displayed on the product pages indicate each design's physical width and height. When ordering double gates, the physical width represents the total width of the pair of gates, not each gate individually. For instance, if the width shows 12ft, it consists of two 6ft gates. It is also important to note that when installing timber products, additional space will be needed to accommodate hinges, latches, posts, and opening tolerances.

Do the sizes relate to the gap size or the physical size of the item?show

The sizes of all the wrought iron gates and metal products relate to the size of the opening into which they will fit. We have already made the required allowances for hinges and latches within this to make the ordering process as simple as possible for you the customer.

In comparison, all wooden gates displayed on the website are listed as the physical width and height of the product. We have made no allowances for the space required for hinges, latches and opening tolerances.

Should you require assistance selecting the right size please feel free to call or email us for assistance.

What should I do if I can't find the appropriate size for my opening in the online store?show

We manufacture made-to-measure gates, fencing and railings based on your specifications, but some limitations will apply. Please email your sizes or fill out our enquiry form for more information.

Do you provide an installation option?show

We are an online retailer that does not provide installation services or site surveys. Our products are sold for supply only. When offering advice, we depend on the measurements and information provided by you and, thus, are not liable for any aspect of your installation. We recommend hiring a competent professional, such as a builder or handyman, if you require assistance.

Are the products suitable for DIY installation?show

Attaching hinges and a latch to an existing structure, such as two walls, makes for a simple installation process. Typically, a novice DIYer can install a single gate in approximately 30 minutes. However, if the installation involves adding support posts and is more complex, some experience may be required. For additional information refer to the installation guide.

How are the products finished?show

Unless otherwise stated within the description for each individual design, all wrought iron gates fencing and railings will be supplied as standard in a black primer finish. As such they will need to be painted prior to installation to provide protection against the elements.

Wooden gates are supplied in a smooth planed natural timber finish and as such will need to be stained, painted or varnished before allowing it to become exposed to the elements. Failure to do this will result in the gate simply rotting away leading to a replacement being required in only a few years.

Do the gates include the hinges and latch as standard?show

  • Singles: All our garden gate and side gate designs include a pair of surface-mounted hinges, a latch and a wall-mounted receiver plate. These can be attached directly to any appropriate surface, including brick walls, masonry, timber and metal posts.

  • Doubles: Each set of wrought iron style driveway and estate gates includes a comprehensive fitting pack containing 4 x hinges, a latch mechanism and a drop bolt. Please note that we do not include the screws/bolts you will need to attach the hinge brackets to the supporting structure.

Do the railings and fence panels come with fixing brackets?show

Each one of our railings or fence panels you purchase will include a fitting pack which contains 4 x wall-mounted brackets and the nuts and bolts required to attach the panels to the brackets. Currently, we do not include the screws to fix the brackets to the walls or posts (you must purchase these elsewhere, and the type used will depend upon the surface you fix into).

Do wooden gates come with hinges or other fittings?show

We do not include the hinges, latches or drop bolts as standard with any of our wooden gate designs. You will need to purchase the items separately.

What is the best way to care for the products?show

  • Zinc-plated and Powder-Coated Range: Although this range of metal gates, fencing, and railings undergoes electro-galvanisation for improved rust resistance and is then powder-coated in black, it is still necessary to periodically inspect and touch up any chipped paint. While galvanising offers substantial rust resistance, it does not provide absolute rust-proofing. Like other outdoor metal products, occasional repainting every few years is recommended to ensure longevity.

  • Primed Range: To ensure adequate protection against rust and corrosion, it is essential to paint all products within this range before installation. Furthermore, we highly recommend repainting the steel surfaces every two years to maintain maximum protection. Regular painting and maintenance are crucial to prolonging the lifespan of the steel surfaces and preserving their lifespan.

  • Timber: Unless otherwise specified in the product description, all wooden gates on this website are constructed from untreated softwood. To safeguard the timber against wood rot, applying stain or paint to all exposed surfaces before they are exposed to the elements is crucial.

Can the gates be automated?show

We do not supply automation kits, but many of our products are automation-friendly.
