According to the latest research by Sage Insurance, homeowners over 50 years of age are the most likely demographic to be looking to increase home security by adding such items as lockable wrought iron or wooden garden gates and high security garden sheds.

The research highlights the 68% of this age group (approx 14.3 million people) are avid outdoor enthusiasts that enjoy the garden to its maximum potential and for that reason understand the importance or providing adequate protection.

In addition to this it is also clear that with a larger disposable income, this group will also spend on average £200 more on these forms of security products than other age group.

Whilst these findings are not unusual and what we might expect, it is interesting to note that much of this age group now makes many of these purchases online as more and more users from this generation become familiar and confident with the internet.
